As an outdoor educator running school camps, Ethan Jolley witnessed growth and built meaningful relationships with students – but he would have to say ‘goodbye’ after just a few days. Ethan made the decision to pursue a career in teaching through our Leadership Development Program to foster this growth over a longer time.

During Teach For Australia’s Leadership Development Program, you’ll teach subjects in the classroom that are directly related to your previous studies and experience while undertaking your Master of Teaching. But determining the subjects you’re eligible to teach isn’t as straightforward as it sounds.

“Once you receive an offer to our Leadership Development Program, there’s a lot of preparation work you need to do – and sometimes the English language proficiency test can be the straw that broke the camel’s back,” said TFA Admissions Specialist, Erie Martha Lane.

“I look back at my first term of teaching compared to my last and cannot believe how far I have come in my teaching journey.” Molly Smith credits Teach For Australia’s employment-based Masters pathway for her “exponential growth” as a teacher in just two years.

Damien Viney is bringing unique expertise from his previous careers as a cidermaker and a Health Inspector, and as a member of the local council, to the classroom in Tasmania. The Devenport resident is teaching science and maths at Reece High School as part of the 2024 Cohort of our Leadership Development Program.
