Serena joined the Melbourne infrastructure & utilities team as a Recruitment Intern, assisting the team with recruitment in the civil & infrastructure space. Serena is currently in her final year of a Bachelor of Business at Victoria University, majoring in Human Resource Management.

Despite being a full-time student, she took on the challenge of recruitment and was quickly hooked. From feeling nervous on her first day to building candidate lists for future roles, Nicola has learned a lot about the industry and herself. She even placed her first candidate as an intern!

Despite being nervous at first, Lucy found the friendly environment and people at Fuse the most enjoyable part of her internship, along with the variety of tasks and exposure to different areas of marketing. Lucy overcame personal challenges such as juggling studies and work through effective time management, and learned transferable skills such as SEO and blog structures, Premiere Pro, and realistic expectations, which have helped her with her studies.

Alex started as an intern and was offered a part-time role after succeeding in their internship. Now, Alex is working full-time in the FMCG sector of the Brisbane manufacturing team.

Due to the stigma that surrounds recruitment, many myths have developed. “Isn’t recruitment just HR? Isn’t it just sales?” Well, the answer is no. Recruitment is in a league of its own and is often overlooked as the amazing career path it is.
